Initiatives of Guwahati Regional Centre
Regional Centre, Guwahati is in the process of developing three programmes, namely -
  • Certificate in Diabetes Care for Community Workers
  • Certificate in Interior Design
  • Certificate in Handmade Paper items
These programmes have been formulated with a special focus on young people who can be engaged in fruitful occupations, perhaps even self- employment. Being largely practical based, the programmes provide hands on experience in the field situation so as to develop competence
on the task. It is expected that the enrollment in these programmes will be reasonable not-only in the North East but also across the country.

 Conduct of Teacher Training Programmes
Guwahati Regional Centre in association with Sarva Siksha Abhiyan has been implementing Certificate Programme in Primary Education (CPE). This is a major initiative to train the untrained Primary School Teachers of Assam.
 Vocational Training Programmes
Guwahati Regional Centre organizes Vocational Training Programmes from time to time. So far, the following training programmes have been conducted:-
  • Mobile Repairing
  • Conventional Lathe
  • Silk Screen Printing
  • Techniques of Enhancing Milk Production
  • Training Programme on Sericulture
  • Water Harvesting
  • Integrated Farming
Guwahati Regional Centre in association with the Tool Room & Training Centre and Hero Honda Ltd has been conducting Certificate in Motorcycle Maintenance & Repair.
 SPECIAL EFFORTS OF GUWAHATI REGIONAL CENTRE AT CENTRAL JAIL, GUWAHATI
The Study Centre at Central Jail, Guwahati caters to the educational needs of the inmates. In addition, the Regional Centre has been conducting skill development programmes in jail from time to time.
